Modagami, once known as the Fortress in the East, is a historic Kjanuan city situated deep in the Kureta Mountains. The city is commonly blanketed in mist from the mountains, and is known for its art and culture. Modagami’s unique environment led it to pioneer landscape poetry and many other forms of Kjanuan art, and many modern movies are filmed in the city to capitalize on its moody design.

The dark city is nestled between the nearby mountains, and its location made it a prime defensive position for the early Kjanuan Kingdom against Monikau incursions, giving it the name "The Fortress in the East." In the modern day, this legacy has been replaced with Modagami's unique architectural design. As part of a rapid urbanization in the 1940s, the city was redesigned with modern architecture to produce a moody atmosphere to match the nearby mountains, an atmosphere that has since been utilized by the movie industry to film sci-fi classics like The Sleepless City. Visitors looking for an even darker place can explore the nearby cave complexes, thought to be some of the largest in the world!
