The Keepers of the Last Wound are a division of the Kjanuan Bureau of Sub-Corporeal Defense (BSCD). Part of the Winterglow Directorate, the division is led by Ma Xinqi under the direction of Whispering Wind, Setting Suns. The Keepers of the Last Wound are tasked with managing all anomalies relating to the Graveyard of Chains.
The Keepers of the Last Wound were founded in 1982 to investigate the works of Kwon Sung-hyo, a 15th-century Kjanuan playwright. Upon discovering Kwon’s connection to the Graveyard of Chains, the Keepers of the Last Wound began to research the dimension itself.[1] The division notoriously captured the DARI-49 satellite from the Sub-Directorate of Anomalous Occurrences (SDAO) during the Fifth Sub-Corporeal War and has managed the satellite since its capture in 1993.

Like most divisions of the Winterglow Directorate, the Keepers of the Last Wound are directed by Whispering Wind, Setting Suns, who appoints a leader to run day-to-day operations of the division. Due to the strong corrupting force of the Graveyard of Chains, the division is further divided into five offices wherein information regarding the Graveyard of Chains is evenly split to prevent corruption. The Keepers of the Last Wound are headquartered in Ikitsuki and employ 134 staff.[2]
The primary purpose of the Keepers of the Last Wound is to research and explore the Graveyard of Chains and its one known gateway.[3] The Keepers of the Last Wound initially discovered the Graveyard of Chains by researching the plays of Kwon Sung-hyo. After being directed to The Knight in Grey by Whispering Wind, Setting Suns, the division was able to identify Kwon as a visionary for the Graveyard of Chains and locate the gateway to the dimension in orbit of Utopia.
Before the BSCD was able to reach the gateway, the Meridian Commonwealth launched the DARI-49 satellite to serve as an observation facility and enclosure for the gateway. In 1993, the Keepers of the Last Wound launched a hack that weakened the satellite and allowed the bureau to take control of it away from the SDAS. Since capturing DARI-49, the Keepers of the Last Wound have used the satellite to monitor the Graveyard of Chains and its inhabitants, as well as make expeditions into the dimension itself.[4]
